Job Description

The successful candidate will fill in the above position:

  • Studying and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Planning welding processes based on the design and material specifications.
  • Performing welding tasks using techniques such as arc welding, MIG welding, TIG welding, and gas welding.
  • Welding metal components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Cutting, shaping, and preparing metal pieces for welding using tools like grinders,cutters, and drills.
  • Cleaning and inspecting metal surfaces to ensure proper welding conditions.
  • Inspecting welded joints for accuracy, strength, and structural integrity.
  • Identifying and repairing defects in welds, such as cracks or voids.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety standards and welding codes.
  • Maintaining and repairing welding equipment and tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Reporting any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
  • Artisan certificate in welding and Fabrication.
  • Crafts certificate in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Certification in welding techniques is an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of Boilers, Steam Works, and Incinerators is an added advantage
  • 2 years’ experience in a similar position
