Job Description

Program Description:

The Tupumue study is a Multi-disciplinary partnership set to determine and compare the respiratory health status of children living in two contrasting communities in Nairobi. The study is investigating early life origins and potential drivers of chronic lung disease (CLD) including indoor and outdoor air pollution, low birth weight and respiratory infections in early life.

This post will involve working with the project team to undertake qualitative research analysis on data collected through different methods including drawings, walking interviews, focus groups and video recordings. The Research Scientist will be expected to code, undertake analysis of data and write reports.

Position: Research Scientist (KMR 6) 1 Position

Reports to: PI, Tupumue study

Education and Professional Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline within Health or Social Sciences (e.g. Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, Anthropology)
  • Training in data management software (e.g. Nvivo software, Atlas TI, MAXQDA)

 Competencies

  • Good communication skill. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coding and analysis of data
  • Report writing
  • Securing, storage and management of the data, in accordance with the data protection policy of KEMRI Terms of Engagement:

Employment is SIX (6) months contract as per KEMRI Human Resource policy and Procedures Manual with a probation period of one (1) month.
