Job Description

The successful candidates shall Organize medications for dispensing by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, and assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, review, update and ensure compliance with the pharmacy policies and procedures
  • Receive, verify prescriptions and dispense drugs in a timely manner within approved standards and procedures.
  • Compound extemporaneous preparations and mix certain intravenous medications as per laid down procedures.
  • Check that every label placed on the medications contains the correct patient’s name, drug, quantity and directions.
  • Counsel patients on drug administration and use of devices for optimum wellness and recovery.
  • Carry out periodic stock takes to manage available supplies including expiries.
  • Communicate out of stock and non-stock effectively and timely to prescriber and nurse and provide alternative choice or make arrangements to order promptly
  • Take an active role in the procurement process of the drug supplies; including ordering and receiving.
  • Complete documentation of Interventions, Medication errors and Near Miss, Adverse events, Medication queries, Patient complaints or any other incidents and forward to relevant office
  • Develop hospital staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical
  • programs; training pharmacy staff, interns, and nurses.
  • Ensure compliance to the pharmacy and poisons board regulations.
Job Qualifications & Skills
  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution
  • Registration with the Pharmacy & Poisons Board
  • Practicing License from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
  • 2 years of working experience, preferably in a hospital set up.
