Job Description

As a driver you will be required to possess a strong commitment to safety, work ethics and professionalism. You will be responsible for transporting products and passengers from our warehouse to our clients. You will also be expected to accompany the sales reps to the field visit outside Nairobi when need be.  Your duty will also include loading and offloading of products into the vehicle and delivering products to the correct addresses in a timely manner. A driver is an essential part of the team, responsible for ensuring that goods are delivered to their destination safely and efficiently

Key Responsibilities

  • Interact with client and colleagues professionally at all times
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, warehouse and management to relay important information
  • Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use
  • Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed
  • Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date
  • Comply with traffic laws and company regulations
  • Represent the company positively and professionally in interactions with the clients
  • Complete pre and post safety operations check-list and documentation
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork and documentation are in order before delivering the product
  • Ensure the secure loading and unloading of goods, verifying the accuracy of items against delivery documents
  • Provide safe and comfortable transportation for passengers, adhering to all traffic rules and regulations
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring their well-being throughout the journey
  • Collaborate with warehouse or logistics teams to organize goods for delivery and ensure proper documentation
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections of the vehicle to identify and address any potential issues promptly
  • Uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity in all interactions, especially when handling valuable goods and confidential information
  • Report any discrepancies or issues with deliveries promptly and transparently
  • Monitor the vehicles condition and promptly report any maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate authority
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to ensure that vehicle is in optimal working condition
  • Maintain accurate reports of mileage, delivery routes, and other relevant information
  • Keep detailed report of any incidents, accidents, or unusual occurrences during transportation
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies or unforeseen situations with calm and efficiency
  • Follow company protocols for reporting emergencies and seeking assistance when needed
  • Ensure that all necessary paperwork including delivery receipts, manifests, and passenger manifest (if applicable) is completed accurately and promptly
  • Verify that all required documentation is in order before initiating deliveries or passenger transport
  • Seek opportunities for continuous improvement in delivery processes and suggesting enhancements to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction

Skills and Qualifications

  • Completion of a high school certificate
  • A valid driver’s license and atleast 1-2 years of driving experience
  • Experience of 1-2 years driving long distance (Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Meru)
  • Extensive knowledge of the operating areas
  • Time management and organizational skills to keep track of the deliveries and stay on schedule
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the customers
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance
  • Good knowledge of traffic laws, safety regulations and city routes
  • Attention to details and ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Flexibility in working hours – the ability to work during weekends and evenings (when need be)
